It is wonderful to learn about all of the branding and marking techniques for 
horses, cattle, and other livestock, however please note that human pony, are 
just that HUMAN!  Many of these techniques will not work or are not safe to 
do on humans.

1.  FREEZE BRANDING:  Actually there are 2 ways to freeze brand livestock, 
one is thru a freezing iron and one is thru using a stencil and a freeze 
branding spray.  These techniques can *only* be used safely and effectively 
on livestock.  In order for a freeze brand to work the beast must have a fur 
covered hide.  What chilling the hide to below freezing tempatures does is 
cause the new hair that grows out of the brand to be white and provide a 
contrast to the rest of the hide.  Not for use on humans.

2.  FLEX NYLON TAGS are frequently used instead of permanent brandings to 
identify livestock including horses.  The nylon material is suitable for all 
climates and conditions.  They must be purchased in packs of 100 and are used 
in mainly large ranches and farms with lots of livestock.

For human ponies that would like to have some sort of an identification tag 
there are many lovely options,
some decorative, some semi permanent, and some permanent:

1.  HALTER, COLLAR, BRIDLE TAGS:  These are the most decorative and fairly 
economical.   The pieces in my Signature Collection of human pony tack are

2.  VIOLET WAND BRANDING: This is a tempory brand that usually last any where 
from 1 - 6 weeks depending on how many times the design is traced.  Also it 
is not painful.  This can be fun for temporary ownership, parties, and 
events.  Can have devotional and ritualistic meanings when repeated.

3.  KNIFE SCRATCHINGS/CUTTINGS:  Depending on your skin and how deep you 
make the scratchings these can last from 1 week to 4 months.  Constant 
repeating of the same design in the same location can lead to permanance.  
Not overly painful can have very ritualistic and devotional meanings 
especially when repeated. I personally wear a knife cutting that has the 
initials of my lovers and my scene names entwined.  It has probably been re- 
cut well over a dozen times and I suspect if not re-cut again would be  
fairly permanent though not overly pronounced.

4.  SCAPAL CUTTINGS:  These cuttings are much more sharp and can be much 
deeper and long lasting then a knife scratching.  They are very ritualistic 
and should only be performed by somebody experienced.  Depending on the depth 
of the cut and the skin pigment these can last for a year or more and 
sometimes be permanent.  Frequently they will be re-cut to insure a more 
permanent mark.

5.  TATTOOS:  These can be a wonderful permanent marking.  There is alot of 
flexibility in design and color.  Although they are considered permanent 
marks today's laser technology can remove tattoos though the procedure is 
very expensive.

6.  JEWELRY is a wonderful way to mark someone or show devotion and 
ownership.  It can be as simple as an engravable slave bracelet, ankle band , 
or metal collar.  It can also be a more ceremonial piercing like of the 
nipples or genitals.  Most body piercing can be taken out and the hole will 
close up, though not always so if that is important to you, confer with your 
piercer.

7.  BRANDINGS:  Very permanent and very painful, though very meaningful sign 
of ownership in classic BDSM ritual.  Sometimes has to be touched up or will 
be embellished.  Takes 3 - 8 weeks to heal. Accomplished through the heat 
burning of skin that leaves scar tissue in the design of the brand .

Any kind of a permanent marking should not be entered into lightly.  What you 
might enjoy now you might not like 20 years from now.  Also think very 
carefully about the design and location of any permanent mark and have it 
done by someone experienced.  My partner and I experimented with several 
other designs and locations before re- cutting the one I have now.  
Personally I think permanent marks should be very symbolic : )
