Dear Ponies,
There are no specific rules on pony play.
You will see as many variations in
pony attire as you do in any other aspect of the scene.
I personally break down the classifications as thus:
Classic Ponygirl: Has its roots in Victorian ponygirls and various
literature from the last 125yrs or so, especially the writings and pictorials
by John Willie. Ponygirls are corseted, stockinged and heeled. Frequently
belles and plumes are part of the decorations. Emphasis is on posture,
grace, & rhythm. Inspiration is the submissiveness, mental dehumanization,
and loss of control. Having a Dominant during play is very important in
achieving that.
Transformation Fantasy Pony: Has its roots in more modern sci - fi and BDSM
literature, especialy the Gor series. Frequently called Gorean ponies. The
emphasis is looking as much as an actual horse as one physically can . The
most important aspect to this type of pony tends to be butt plug tails, hoof
boots and gloves, and full body suits. Inspiration is the fantasy and
physical dehumanization. Having a Dominant is not important to the play,
though having others that share the fantasy is. Play talk about having teeth
removed and bits permanently implanted in their mouth, permanent hooves
surgically attatched, and the voice box removed are examples of this romantic
illusion. You can sort of compare it to the game Dungeons and Dragons.
Spirit Pony: I suspect the roots to this type of pony comes from a
combination of the individuals childhood and the historic traits given to
equines such as noble, spirited, strong, powerful, fast, graceful, wild,
etc.....Inspiration is to take a break from everyday life and reality of self
to freely play , as children do, and capture the spirtitual traits of the
horse momentarily. Inspiration is more physical and spiritual in nature
rather dependent on costuming. Frolicing, rolling on the ground, running,
shaking head, and whinneying are typical spirited pony traits. Spirited
ponies feel comfortable running alone or in herds.
Sub groups I do not have time to go into right now are the Work pony and the
Sexual Pony.
Naturally some human ponies may show attributes from more then one catagory,
but after careful examination traits from one style will be more dominant.
The important thing is to not get caught up in labels. Be creative and

As a trainer, I prefer butt plug tails for everyday work and training. It
works very well to keep the pony focused. Naturally this is with the given
that they have been properly anally trained before hand. During a show, I
will frequently switch to a strap on tail for the aesthetics on cart,
dressage, and 2 legged riding ponies. Mr S makes wonderful butt plug tails.
The only problem I have found with them is that even their small has quite a
large plug. For 4 - legged riding ponies I find the strap on tails do not
fall correctly and interfere with the saddle or if bareback, the riders
comfort.
In regards to hoof boots, they are fine for the let's dress up and be a
"party pony" or for a pony that is stalled , attatched to a hitching post, or
at pasture. I personally would never use or ride a pony in hoof boots do to
safety, nor do I find anything noble and graceful about those contrived
appendages. For those ponies that have deep transformation fantasies they
are fine indeed.

I love to tell folks about it, and they
always seem interested, then blown away by
some aspects, like plugged tails, which was a
surprize to me when I first saw it. It still strap mine on! ;-)

Are there many 24/7 ponies?
If you count tack fixin', shoppin' for tack,
feed/water, cleanin'/groomin',
ranch work, truck repairs
and actual runnin wild, I come
pretty close now, seems more natural
the more I do this. It does seem to fit right in
with much Western stuff already, and
also with English style ridin' and fun.
As for urban ponies, well that's a real challenge.
Regular jobs, and all the other city problems
seem to make Ponyspace hard to achieve.
It doesn't seem to have a fit with gangs or bikers yet.
but that's because they dont know, they would respect tough ponies
probably, and it would do them good to even see it, or go country.
...humm, sixshooters and winchesters strapped on?
Trick to expandin' will be to keep it as wild as ever,
but tame it down a little, like more street legal events etc.
not just gay parades or mardi gras, but more special Pony Events
to attact a wider herd. It will grow faster, but maybe
not exactly like we imagine. Street legal fun will really
make it happen, while what goes on in any stable will
still be a private matter. Someone already mentioned
Pony Beach fun, and in bikini's etc. that would be great fun !
plus a kind of modern rickshaw beach ride along boardwalks etc.
I would love to see Ponies in the Nat. Forest, or Hot Springs etc.
It has possible tie-ins to nudism as well. And now to Burnin' Man Event.
Oh you shoulda seen their faces in TX when I talked
the talk, and grazed the graze, right in the front yard !
And I didn't even mention Pony Girl Stuff. Just grazin' and health foods.
They said TX just wasn't ready for this! But, I think it may
be coming closer than we think, especially with several events
this year there. Ok, Cowboys will still do steaks and beer,
but Pony Girls could do the salads and fun fashion stuff.
Get 'em drunk enuff and a Cowboy just might...anything could happen!;-)
A skilled Pony Girl could lasso one and bridle 'em up !
But breakin' one will be a challenge!
Scenario: She'll buy the beer at the drive thru beer store if
he lets her ride him through in front of everyone!!!
Scenario 2: Pony Girls at Country Strip Clubs, puttin' on a great show
strippin down to their Pony Tack! Whoa !!! And its a safe place to play.
Perhaps two Pony Girls playin' on stage would be quite a thrill ride!
The trick will be to get more Cowboys to give their Girlfriends rides.
Now Cowboys have become a little more sensitive, ie Country Music etc.
and Cowgirls have become much more liberal and wild. It could happen.
Just a kinda role reversal of dom/sub and ridin' becomes much easier!
It could be a macho Cowboy sport to give their Girls a fast ride!
Ridin' drunk and crazy right into the lake ! Whoa!!! great fun.
I see many big Pony guys who want to ride defenseless little Pony Girls hard!
and other combinations that don't match up well physically. So perhaps
it takes some better way to match folks up, and teach this stuff etc.
Not strick rules of course, but just some suggestions for better ridin'.
It may be why we see few sub Pony GG's, they are afraid of this!
There is some "Animal cruelty" factor that is also scary!
I know it sometimes scares me and I'm pretty tough!
This is one heck of a tough sport, even without any whippin', bdsm etc.
I asked my Girlfriend if She would let me give Her a ride...she's
thinkin' 'bout it now! And She agreed to go tack shoppin'!
She still hasn't seen my tack yet, but I told her 'bout it.
She loves Cowboy stuff but isn't much into Cowgirl yet.
She has an Socal urban backround,
but TX parents and distant fond memories.
But, if They were empowered...
and could do the ridin', they would love it !
There could still be a sub component
as in... 'bringin' him a beer' while doing fun and groomin' after etc.
and other usual stuff like cookin' Girls mostly do. It would fit well.
Just a simple attitude adjustment. That's what happened to me.
Of course, full Dom Pony Girl works! Real whip crackin'
fun!
Seems simple enough, but its a Big Hurdle. But it could do so much
for Women/Gay/Human rights and respect for Animals as well. Its also a
healthy sport if approached more like one. Yes we are special and have
a special responsibility as Pioneers to set as best an example as we can.
And one of the groups we need to set example for is kids, right?
Oh sure we can still do adult fun meanwhile back at the ranches...
I envision Pony Rodeo, based after the many skills and events we
already have plus more. Well maybe not calf ropin'!
but bronks and barrel racin' perhaps?
And an English version, Pony Polo perhaps.
I think fans would go wild for a real bronk event! Whoa!!!
Now to really make it explode folks would have to step up and
do a Buffalo Bill/Annie Oakley kinda travelin' show ! Whoa!!!
A sell out for sure ! Just needs a sponsor like a rich TX'an...

blankets, ears, tails, harnesses, halters, halter tops, skirts, chaps etc.
So we hope You get inspired to perhaps do something along this line,
to do Indian Ponies or Pintos perhaps? That would be sooo cool!
Now of course the trick for us Ladies...
is to get our Guys to give Us rides !
to eat carrots out of Our hands...
to cut back on the steak and beer !
and get in "Great Spirited" Stallion shape !
They can be hard to lasso, bridle and break
but it would be great fun and worth it, right?

Just to get thigns rolling along a pony path.
Why not we all take those fine words from Mr Ed.
"A horse is a horse of course and everyone knows a horse of course"
who cares what sex it is. Every time I have rented a horse on a trail
ride I never heard anyone ask what sex is it before they got on, and the
horse never minded either.
Lets all just horse around and be merry...... think of leather
retreat.....and other neat pony events........
Also, anyone wishing to go to events I am vending at or doing pony demos
at for free...................

Horses are classified very very simply:
Stallions, Geldings and Mares
Are these simple categories are a problem?
Must Pony Sex be Subclassified?
We are Ponies, not this and that gender subgroup,
leave it behind
in the city or at a support group. No one classifies
Stallions as this or that, gay or straight or whatever,
the other Horse Classification is by Breeding.
Mares include only those who have paid the dues!
That's Genetic Women and Post-Op T's
They deserve our most humble respect, whether sub or Domme.
Mares should be defended with Chivalry as a Real Stallion
or Real Cowboy would.
Ponies have another Subclassification system
based on history, attire, perspectives, activities:
ie: Victorian/Classic, Rich Literary Heritage
Transformational/Gorean, Sci-Fi, Gor, Changing
Pony Spirit/Childhood Pony, Character/Feelings
Work/Sex/Show/Misc., Many Types Of Activities

Pony had a good horse laugh with his mare last weekend. She told him about a
brief news story on the TV that recounted the Mystery of the Missing Tails.
As most of you are aware, this submissive is a trans-specied equine stallion
trapped in a small hewmon male body.
pony was shocked and appalled to learn
that a riding stable not far from ponys Mich. stable reported that in the
night the hair from their horses tails had all been cut off and taken. The
owner of the stable expressed her bafflement at why on earth anyone would
want horses tail hair.
But _pony_knows!! this pet has a tail of his own
(of which he is far too proud for his own good)
so it certainly wasnt him.
And pony denys for the record that any of his fellow pets would consider
defacing our role models in such a dastardly way,
but acknowledges that equines never really know what sad thoughts
might lurk in the minds of some twisted grooms or fursuiters! ;-))
With a careful vigil of his tail now in place,

There are probably

It is wonderful to learn about all of the branding and marking techniques for
horses, cattle, and other livestock, however please note that human pony, are
just that HUMAN! Many of these techniques will not work or are not safe to
do on humans.
1. Freeze Branding: Actually there are 2 ways to freeze brand livestock,
one is thru a freezing iron and one is thru using a stencil and a freeze
branding spray. These techniques can *only* be used safely and effectively
on livestock. In order for a freeze brand to work the beast must have a fur
covered hide. What chilling the hide to below freezing tempatures does is
cause the new hair that grows out of the brand to be white and provide a
contrast to the rest of the hide. Not for use on humans.
2. Flex nylon tags are frequently used instead of permanent brandings to
identify livestock including horses. The nylon material is suitable for all
climates and conditions. They must be purchased in packs of 100 and are used
in mainly large ranches and farms with lots of livestock.
For human ponies that would like to have some sort of an identification tag
there are many lovely options some decorative, some semi permanent, and some
permanent:
1. Halter, collar, bridle tags. These are the most decorative and fairly
economical. The pieces in my Signature Collection of human pony tack are
adorned with a very decorative plate suitable for engraving. hese pieces are
also available in my new Brass Beauty Collection.
2.Violet Wand branding : This is a tempory brand that usually last any where
from 1 - 6 weeks depending on how many times the design is traced. Also it
is not painful. This can be fun for temporary ownership, parties, and
events. Can have devotional and ritualistic meanings when repeated.
3. Knife scratchings / cuttings: Depending on your skin and how deep you
make the scratchings these can last from 1 week to 4 months. Constant
repeating of the same design in the same location can lead to permanance.
Not overly painful can have very ritualistic and devotional meanings
especially when repeated. I personally wear a knife cutting that has the
initials of my lovers and my scene names entwined. It has probably been re-
cut well over a dozen times and I suspect if not re-cut again would be
fairly permanent though not overly pronounced.
4. Scalpal Cuttings : These cuttings are much more sharp and can be much
deeper and long lasting then a knife scratching. They are very ritualistic
and should only be performed by somebody experienced. Depending on the depth
of the cut and the skin pigment these can last for a year or more and
sometimes be permanent. Frequently they will be re-cut to insure a more
permanent mark.
5. Tattoos: These can be a wonderful permanent marking. There is alot of
flexibility in design and color. Although they are considered permanent
marks today's laser technology can remove tattoos though the procedure is
very expensive.
6. Jewelry is a wonderful way to mark someone or show devotion and
ownership. It can be as simple as an engravable slave bracelet, ankle band ,
or metal collar. It can also be a more ceremonial piercing like of the
nipples or genitals. Most body piercing can be taken out and the hole will
close up, though not always so if that is important to you, confer with your
piercer.
7. Brandings: Very permanent and very painful, though very meaningful sign
of ownership in classic BDSM ritual. Sometimes has to be touched up or will
be embellished. Takes 3 - 8 weeks to heal. Accomplished through the heat
burning of skin that leaves scar tissue in the design of the brand .
Any kind of a permanent marking should not be entered into lightly. What you
might enjoy now you might not like 20 years from now. Also think very
carefully about the design and location of any permanent mark and have it
done by someone experienced. My partner and I experimented with several
other designs and locations before re- cutting the one I have now.
Personally I think permanent marks should be very symbolic : )

Dear Ponies,
I have seen a lot and kinda "fallen into" myself the lax terminology of
"Horse Breaking or Pony Breaking" for Real and Human Ponies.
Oh sure, that is "one" way but often involving much cruelty and
disreguard for the poor Creature, Equine or Human.
Now, many of each seem to deserve such punishment, but that is
probably incorrect perception and simply not very effective in long run,
for both Trainer/Owner but also the Creature.
So when I came across this book, it finally dawned on me to
try to correct my thinkin', to search deeper into Horse trainin'
which also translates into Pony trainin' to a large degree.
Most of the Horses I have dealt with were already "broken"
trail Horses, so I have been very little involved in that part.
The gentlin' process, the tackin' up, the whole process,
and such things as 'Horse Whisperin' and other famous
trainers who have proven this to be far superior technique (than "Bronk
Bustin'")
such as Monty Roberts, who "deciphered" Mustang Language...;-)

Thank you! A munch is very easy to arrange....one just needs to
find a suitable restaurant to hold it at (a private room is advised), pick
a date and time, and post a reminder of it. I reserve a room at a local
restaurant about 3-4 weeks in advance and make sure that I have a private
room. I then post a notice that I will be having one and where and when
it wil be. I ask those interested to RSVP so that I have a rough count
for the restaurant. I then send a reminder about a week before and then
again about 2 days before to remind people that there will be a munch.
It really takes very little work and if you plan ot have them each month,
it is even easier as word spreads and everyone knows which night of the
month it will be. I have mine the 4th Saturday of each month with some
exceptions for holidays.
