Ed Leedskalnin created the Coral Castle in Florida
over a period of 25 years without anyone ever seeing
how he constructed this magnificent Astronomical Castle.
He was a simple honest friendly man and I take him at his word.
He said it was first of all "Natural" and "Good".
Which means he did not use any "Supernatural" or
"Magical" techniques in his construction.
He said it was all right in front of us, all the simple hand tools,
the old car parts which were also hand tools, not parts for his
truck, which he didn't have anyway.
He lived a simple austere life right on the premises.
He was exceptionally protective of his amazing secret,
which he said was, "The secret of the Pyramids and Incas".
well its very apparent he did discover the secret! This property
has approximately 11,000 tons of rock constructions of similar
magnitude to prove every word he said.
Now he also told us, although it seems no one has been listening,
that its all done with fundamental principals of natural leverage,
not levitation, which is unnatural, with fulcrums and other
applications of these principals
such as wedges, screw jacks, and pulleys.
He had no power tools, nor even electricity, although he was a
dedicated student of electro-magnetism and wrote some interesting
manuscripts on those subjects. They apparently had little to do
with constrution, not a word. His lips were sealed on this subject
and he carried this incredible secret to the grave unfortunately.
The one report by kids spying on the old man can be simply explained
as "Eye Witness Synrome". They saw him working late at night
in poor light and mistook his efforts as levitation becasue
they probably couldn't see the small dark metal hand tools at work,
nor had the mindset to see reality, just their fantasy of
levitation based on local rumors.
I believe very strongly that Ed used these tools in simple new ways,
with an open inquisitive mind, and lots of hard dedicated work over
a long period of time. Steady work does add up over 25 years and
averages out to a little more than a ton per day actually.
Certainly within old fashioned hand mining levels.
But his constructions not only mastered the science of Mining,
but also of Transportation and Erection to a degree that appears
far beyond the normal, but not beyond the natural. Natural was the
cornerstone of Ed's life literally.
First, leverage is well known but not often applied to large scale
projects. We just "assume" that it won't work, or can't be applied
and other groundless negative preconceptions which simple block all
attempts to duplicate the great acheivements of the ages.
CULTURAL BLINDNESS:
We have the perfect lazy excuse, "Its Supernatural" or it requires,
"Thousands of Slaves" and other nonsense. Some of this nonsense
which permeates much of the popular media to the level of total
fantasy and hysteria, ie "The Bermuda Triangle" is just as Ed
mentions, "Unnatural and no good", a scam by charletans, who never
did a days work, making a fast buck on the uninformed and naive.
Lets get real here, is a phrase I can imagine Ed saying to visitors
who speculated about his magic powers and levitations. Ed never ever
resorted to any charlatanism, hype or any falsehoods ever. And yet,
for decades his creation has received almost no serious study at all.
Yet we hear countless recountings of total absurdities in weekly world
tabloids.
We should be ashamed of our culture. We have become totally blind to
reality, nature and goodness. Not a single person has published
any account, such as this attempt, to back Ed's presentations and
creations as something honest, natural, scientific, simple, and good.
Pathetic.
With NASA just up the road, still nothing. With scientists and
engineers and students of these skills from all over the world
visiting, still nothing. Is everyone so blind to the truth?
This is serious, for we claim to have the highest level of science
ever acheived, but we have failed to uncover hardly any of the basic
secrets of the universe, let alone life on this planet.
It is precisely this blindness that has kept mankind from not only
this secret, but all the rest of the so called "Unsolvable mysteries"
out there. We are not as open minded, perceptive, scientific
or as smart as we think.
Now, if we get back to basics here we can uncover exactly every
inch of Ed's work, every measurement, every step, and also uncover
the basics he used to manipulate these huge masses. Since these
secrets are obviously simple and natural forces, there is an answer
staring us right in the face. He built this as proof. He was an
honest and good man. I believe him and have faith that his work
is decipherable in simple physical terms.
ASTRO PHILOSOPHY:
Now his astronomy and and philosophies present many more
challenges to the student of such things. His sundial just sits
there unused, as if a perfect clock meant nothing! No one even
copies it in plastic for their garden!
This total disrespect for all these achievements is disgraceful.
Now as to Ed's Philosophy, well all such thoughts are certainly
open to endless discussion and debate, but since they, like his
creations, are not within the bounds of so called "Common Sense"
they also are dismissed as excentric rantings. I don't think
they are so easily dismissed. They are defiantely excellent
food for thought and add a whole new dimension to many modern
debates in Philosophy, Politics and General Life.
CORAL:
A Note on Coral. Ed loved coral, one of natures most marvelous
materials and its a shame he didn't write about it for he no
doubt knew coral in ways we may never appreciate. This coral
is known as Oolitic Coral, a porous intricate conglomerate of
coral fossils barely lithified and of fairly recent geologic
marine origin. It is readily cut, quarried, sculpted and then
hardens up considerably with exposure to air. It has some
similar properties to regular recent limestones, which were
heavily quarried, sculpted and utilized in the Mediterranean
region and other regions for countless centuries. Limestone,
CaCO3, is one of the fundamentals materials of life on this
planet, the carbon cycle, and found throughout the geologic
ages. Ed would have appreciated geology I'm sure, but he
never went to school. He simply appreciated coral as a natural
extention of his self, of his life.
THE SECRETS:
Ok, I know what you are thinking, "When am I going to reveil
Ed's secrets?" All I can say is that I have and am already!
Yes, it is simple just as he said, but I cannot prove them all
just yet, but will someday. Then, when all the skeptics gather
around my constructions and treat them the same way as they
did Ed, I will probably take the exact same stance and present
it exactly the same! Charge a quarter and say nothing but the
whole truth, nothing but the whole truth so help me God,
and you will still be so blind you will never see nor believe
it. And with such a disrespectful, unbelieveing, closed
minded un-natural evil culture, I'll probably take it with me
to my grave too!
But, in the interest of all that is good, and to perhaps
relieve some of the tremendous terrible continuing holocausts
and horrors of the 20th century which made Ed so reclusive,
secretive and fearful his knowledge would be put to only
unnatural evil purposes, I will take that risk and reveil
some of what I know herein.
STONE DOOR:
First a note on Ed's famous revolving stone door. As you
know, the door is nine tons and has a steel truck axle
drilled into the center of the base. This axle rests on
what is apparently a hard steel truck gear. It works so
smoothly and effortlessly because it has low friction steels
and perfect balance which he achieved by close hand contact
during erection. He "felt" it into balance, and somehow
placed that huge cap stone on. I find this cap stone and
the incredible roof stones of his house even more incredible!
Its one thing to erect a stone, or balance it like a
ballerina, but straight lifting of such huge masses and
shapes is amazing. The Lintels of Stonehenge, Granites
of Pyramid Chamber Interiors, Incan Stones and others are
truely incomprehensible at this time. More work and attempts
to actually do this will be needed to clarify the simple
technique Ed used.
QUARRYING:
Now a note on Quarrying. Ed used simple hammers and
chisels much as used throughout history to carve into rock.
Nowadays we use compressed air driven rock drills, core
drills, diamond wires and blades etc. These are fantastic
but we passed right by the secret this way. The secret
is to cut only enough of a groove into the rock, dimensions
varying with petrology, such that one of two extremly
powerful methods can be applied. No not explosives,
although they work fine, are not what I am referring to.
CRYSTALIZATION:
The two powerful "Secret Forces" are forces of Crystalization.
Ed's first secret was to use the crystalline forces contained
in an ordinary automobile leaf spring steel to split coral.
He chisled the groove deep enough to hold the spring. But
first he heated it red hot on his famous "Bar-b-que" until it
temporarily lost its "spring" and blacksmithed it into the
groove while hot. He then poured cold water on it quickly
quenching it and restoring its "Spring", releasing the
tremendous crystalline power of Spring Steel, instantly
splitting the coral right down the marked groove!
The second secret, not used by Ed, but used widely by the Incans,
is the harnessing of the power of another crystalline substance
placed in a similar hand cut groove. The Incans, living high
in the Andes, a zone of nightly freezing and daily thawing
of great magnitude, no doubt heared the tremendous rock bursts
frequently and discovered what was going on, "Frost Wedging".
They applied this natural phenomenom to spliting rocks right
where they wanted. They cut the groove on the mark, made a
simple clay mini dam around the groove and filled it with water
and went home to bed. In the morning they returned to retrieve
the perfectly split stones and continued on with the rest of
their magnificent construction techniques. More about those,
such as transcribing the angles of the previous rock to the
next stone to mate them perfectly, another time.
APPLICATIONS:
As we see, Ed was not able to reproduce complex Incan Polygonal
construction, and used a more traditional Egyptian scheme and
hand finishing tools to square things up. Afterall, Florida is
not known for its landslides, earthquakes and wars. There is
no need to go to such engineering and geometric extremes.
So there you have two fundamental applications of natural
phenomena which should be enough to prove my hypothesis about
Ed's use of natural forces, not supernatural unknown mysterious
constructs. There are many more techniques which Ed put into
practice. I'm sure that with this new awareness of his methods,
we can attempt to duplicate his work and achieve a detailed
scientific engineering tutorial. This can be used to solve
many of man's historic difficulties with construction, housing,
resource development such a water, and many more. I trust
these will be put to good use, but know that all tools have at
some time been put to evil uses. The overall benefits
over time will outweigh such evil intentions and lead to
increased goodness and harmony.
FULCRUM:
Here is another clue for you. Take a closer look at the
"altar" behind Ed's "Moon Pool" and you will see a huge altar
block, with a small tri-lithon with a perfect fulcrum on top!
Yes, Ed finished up his work, and placed his favorite tool
right on top of his "Altar to Leverage". A lever is powerless
without a fulcrum! See? Ed placed everything right in plain
view knowing full well that we would have the greatest
difficulty "seeing" it in such a hiding place! Ed had a
special sense of humor too! This is not some sort of abstract
art, its his favorite tool and treasure!
LEVERAGE:
So what about Leverage? From my 30 years of mining,
construction and ranching experience, levers are only
partially useful since most objects far outweigh them.
I believe Ed used another approach. If one tries to use a
small "External Lever" to move a huge object, it usually
doesn't work, breaks, bends etc. But by using the long
dimension of the object as an "Internal Lever", one can
usually rest assured at least it won't break or bend!
I believe that the huge "Telescope" Obelisk is just such a
piece which illustrates this principal of an "Internal Lever".
By balancing this piece on the proper fulcrum it could have
been used as its own lever and raised and droped into its
hole right on the mark. The hole making a convienient
attachment for guide chains and stops. Yes, quite a shot!
Then the pyramid apex was constructed to line up with the
North Star, voila! Ed must have really jumped for joy at
this accomplishment like an Irish Leprechaun.
ANCHORS:
Still not convinced? My oh my! What will it take? Ok,
here is another secret in plain view! See the Crescent Moons
of the so called "Moon Pool"? Well they are not at all like
the realistic Crescent Moon behind along with the Saturn.
They are truncated and attached differently deep into the
ground at right angles to each other. Still don't see?
Ok, they are simple ground hook anchors Ed used to attach
his chains and pulleys too!
If you have ever tried to use a pulley or 'come-along',
the main problem is finding an appropriate place to hook onto!
I have tried using various anchors such as telephone poles
burried deep and steels driven in deep, but their narrow
guage and other frailities makes them fall far short of Ed's
huge pwoerful coral hooks! Look close and you will see a
lighter color in the middle where chains were attached,
than up on the hook. The darker "Patina" is worn off in
the middle. Now do you believe Ed was as natural as Popeye?
PLANTS:
Not that Ed was a Natural Spinach eater like Popeye.
Unfortunately, Ed was not in good health his whole life
and was very underweight. But he made up for that weakness
by his extermely strong character. He was also an excellent
gardener and horticulturist, and the Castle is wonderfully
landscaped with a fine collection of plants and flowers.
Too bad he didn't have an organic vegetable garden, he would
have lived much longer. There is a lot more to living and
working naturally far beyond Ed's approach, but that is
beyond the scope of this paper.
PLAIN VIEW:
I hope I have impressed and inspired you to see things
through Ed's eyes, in a natural simple and powerful way.
We can learn and utilize all these secrets for tremendous
natural good if we just open our minds and hearts to them.
Ed left all his secrets for us in plain view and all we
have to do is open our real "eyes" to see them and use
them in the pursuit of harmony with nature and peace.
FINAL NOTE, THE SECRET FORMULA!:

It is so very similiar to the other great secret of
the 20th Century. One is constructive, the other is destructive.
Einstein's E=MC2 is somthing that no doubt made Ed reclusive!
He knew that such a secret would be used for destructive
purposes and it was, and feared his would be also.
He left his unexplained, but I believe is is something simple:
E stands for Energy, I think we can all agree on this.
L stands for Leverage, Ed's passion and fundamental truth.
D probably stands for "Derives From" or some other "Connective Verb".
This is Ed's most powerful constructive secret!
